Despite the long history of working memory research, a consensus on several fundamental research questions has not yet emerged. For instance, does working memory rely on persistent neural activity or activity-silent mechanisms? How are WM representations related to perceptual representations? How do capacity limits arise? The WM engram meeting aims to gather scientists worldwide to share their latest neuroscientific research on working memory and to engage in topical discussion and debate on questions such as these. In doing so, we hope to develop new collaborations and shared insights and help to move the field forward.
